Now that the spring weather has arrived, be on the lookout for horses and riders crossing the roads. As usual, we appreciate your courtesy as you slow down and stop to allow us to cross. New residents or new drivers may not be aware that Horses have the right of way according to NJ law.

If Hurricane Floyd or the winter weather took its toll on a bridle path near or on your property, contact our network of volunteers for trail maintenance by calling Linda Halsey at 425-2299.

Also, if the horses used to come through your property in the past and all equestrian traffic has stopped, it may be due to a neighbors' deer fencing placed across a trail.

If you'd like to see the horses return and are aware of nearby fencing that has blocked access, talk to your neighbors! Would they allow us an alternate route or possibly install a wide entrance and exit gate that could be left open during the day, at least on weekends! It's not a perfect solution but it would help! If there is someone that we should talk to, or if you have questions, please contact Linda Halsey.

Thanks again to the community for your support in helping us keep the trails open. Visit us at our website at www.bridlepath.org.
